Right now, times are tough and uncertain for many people in Humboldt County. My campaign is focused on creating confidence and security in:

Emergency readiness, response, and recovery

Imagine a future where you are confident that your needs will be met in times of emergencies and disasters. If we are ready to respond and recover, we will have the connections that are the fabric of a healthy Humboldt community.  I am committed to:

• Support Public Works goals to improve our roads for safety and accessibility.
• Develop connected network of services from the County to local agencies, NGOs, CERT teams, and neighborhood groups so that people know where to turn to give or receive help.
• Promote local producers to grow and distribute abundant local foods.

A prosperous local economy

While we may see large future investments such as wind energy or a fish aqua farm, I believe we need a healthy local economy that is built on dollars circulating in local businesses. I am already engaged in and will continue to champion:

• Local control of planning to create the places where people want to live, work, and play.
• Creation of investment opportunities through responsible land use planning.
• Support local agencies for the provision of essential services.
• Increase development of our local workforce to create living wage jobs for the workers who are the backbone of our economy.

Affordability and getting our needs met are issues that we need to confront and take action on. These include housing, health care, mental health care, and substance abuse recovery services. Yet we also face increasing costs for goods and services. Additionally, local wages and opportunities aren’t keeping pace.

We are united by these issues. We are united by this incredible landscape. Through skilled collaborative leadership that brings us together around shared interests, we will discover long-lasting solutions for a healthy, prosperous region.  

We need leadership that knows how to bring people together and find durable solutions to the issues we face. I am already using these skills and experience to deliver real results for our community. I have led multimillion dollar construction projects, created vibrant destinations, and brought economic development capacity to the largest community in the 5th District. I am ready to get to work for our future - a healthy, prosperous Humboldt County.
